This refers to the division of air transport business areas in IATA. IATA divides the world into three major regions, each of which is divided into several sub-regions.
IATA1 includes all the South and North American continents and their adjacent islands (Greenland, Bermuda, the West Indies, the Caribbean islands and the Hawaiian Islands). The region is divided into three sub-regions: the Central Atlantic region, the North Atlantic region and the South Atlantic region.
IATA2 includes all Europe and its neighboring islands, all Africa and its neighboring islands, and western Asia including Iran. The region is divided into three sub-regions, namely, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
IATA3 includes all Asian regions and adjacent islands except IATA2; Australia, New Zealand and adjacent islands; Pacific islands other than IATA1.
IATA3 region is further divided into South Asian subcontinent subregion, Southeast Asia subregion, Western Pacific subregion, Japan and North Korea subregion. The People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the region east of the Ural Mountains of Russia are all included in the Southeast Asia subregion of IATA3.
IATA has fully considered the social, economic and trade conditions of different regions in the world in the process of formulating tariff regulations and relevant provisions. So this division is not completely consistent with the geographical division.
